The handling / limited appearances of Obiang have, for me, been the only criticism I would have of Slav this season. Perhaps an over reaction to the BFS period where Bilic feels he needs every sub to be a positive attacking option? I can understand that and the insistence from the owners that he should always go for the attacking option. Just speculation because I cannot recall many defensive substitutions to close games out if any?

But that is a minor grumble because we / Bilic has got most things right. The owners, Bilic and Tony Henry recruited well and if we can do the same again we have a decent chance of repeating the challenge we made this season if not better.

I agree with the comment about the Europa being a double edged sword. I want us to qualify to show something for our great efforts but worry about the extra qualification games and impact if we take it seriously this time by playing our best 11. But then again, maybe we will recruit the 2 strikers we need (one top drawer), a couple of quality wide men, full back cover and work out who is going to be our holding midfielder if Obiang aint fancied by Slav. Because Kouyate is not that type of player and Noble is not mobile enough. The midfield needs to defend better although with potent striking that might not be such a problem.

Come on Messrs Henry, Sullivan and Bilic, your work in these next 3-4 months is going to shape how we progress or not. :-)

Sometimes (yesterday) the result is more important than the performance.
We really did fuck it up and it's a disappointing end to memorable season in which we deserved to finish at least top 6 and a definite Euro spot without having to rely on Man U and then a qualifying round.

I knew after the Swansea fuck up that we had prob blown it.

Was on a real high after the Man U game but now left feeling pissed off.

Always look a better more balanced team when Obiang plays. He has been unlucky not to have been picked and we needed him to break up their play in the second half a lot earlier.

Still gobsmacked that we lost that yesterday. How many chances did Sakho want to score FFS

I was talking about top four next season - apologies, it's the kind of thing I do to pick myself up after a fall.

But in all seriousness, if we are expected to go in for a striker worthy of our midfield, we really ought to be aiming somewhere in that region don't you think?

Spot on - it wasn't difficult.

In fact other than Villa I don't think there is a worse team in the league form wise.

They were totally devoid of ideas , confidence etc & I couldn't believe how bad they were.

For all the faults of the strikers yesterday, the fact is if we had a half decent defence as individuals & defence as a team then one goal should have been enough.

To concede two against that team yesterday was simply a joke.

Stoke away was not a difficult fixture at this stage imo. They barely turned up in the first half.

I was obviously disappointed with the result yesterday but thought our football was superb only the lack of finishing stopped a spanking !! Can't wait for next season with an even stronger squad.

Re: Stoke City v West Ham United - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Had enough chances to win 2 matches yesterday

We played really well the ball just didnt go in

Slav needs to take some stick for putting on Emineke and Valencia, both are utter dogshit

I would of left Sakho on if he werent injured, looked like he was ready to come back on and thought he was getting some unfair stick in the second half from our fans

Ogbonna MOTM by a mile, very good performance and has gone about his business very well this season. A great signing.

Antonio looked good, Kouyate had a good game but couldnt make a tackle in the second half due to being booked and was amazed we didnt see Obiang introduced after 60 mins or so

Nevertheless a fantastic season but there is a overwhelming feeling that it should of been better. At the start of the season i would of snapped your arm off for 7th but after the way it has gone and the chances we have had to finished top 6 you cant help but feel a little gutted at us choking again. A few games put to bed earlier on in the campaign and some different referring decisions we could of been having a real celebration

Poor finishing let us down again unfortunately.

Can't believe that Moses, Valencia and Emenike were even on the bench, they've been woeful in previous games.

Bringing in a top drawer striker has to be the number one priority in the summer. All in all though an excellent season, much better than most would have predicted.

Re: Stoke City v West Ham United - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Collins and Obiang might have been used when Tomkins came off instead of that useless lump Moses. We might have avoided that late Stoke winner.

God help the club that wastes money on loaning that useless Chelsea turd next season.

Re: Stoke City v West Ham United - Official Match Thread
Bar 10 mins of the game Stoke were dogshit and so were their fans. How we lost this game i will never know.

Dominant in the first half and really needed to score more goals.

Turning point was Sakho missing that chance. They go up the other end and score.

Then how we didnt score in those 2 pinball scambles i will never know.

Then comes the sucker punch. Just couldnt believe it.

What pisses me off that the shower of shit Southampton who have been behind us most of the season hop above us. Gutted about that.

Not to worry, hope the mancs can win at the weekend and we get the Europa spot as it would be a travesty if we dont.

Re: Stoke City v West Ham United - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
A win for us would have been perfect. It was Oh So close..at one point one of our attempts was 99% over the goal line...It has been a brilliant season and we have 62 points...We may get some European football if Crystal Palace lose to Man U...But remember European football with only a small squad can be very detrimental to the Premier League and FA Cup competitions....there can be just too many games.....

The early stages can be a very good "warm up" period.

And we can see how we do.

The team is doing well..we have great support..a really good manager and a fine new stadium in London...

Many players of quality will want to come and be a part of this..

The future is Bright...and fortune is Not...Always...hiding...

I cant quite believe some of the stuff on here, we absolutely ripped them a new one without our star man and after Tuesday and all that took out of them.

Granted the finishing was poor but how that constitutes the 'team choking' is beyond me, it perfectly illustrates the need for strikers of commensurate quality to the midfield.

Also, this next level bollox that I am reading on here - have we all turned 'Y' or stark raving mad? Sure we ran close but not close enough and if we have a season like this next, we really will have moved on - ffs, there is talk of top four next season, utter madness.
